Beirut Exhibition Center

Beirut, Lebenon, 2009

The relocation of the Beirut Exhibition Center in central Beirut prompted L.E.F.T. architects, together with FreelandBuck, to adapt the building for contemporary exhibitions. The prefabricated structure was reconfigured on the interior and given a contemporary, temporary skin. Blue conduit tubing, a commonly used material in Beirut, was woven through perforated metal panels to produce a lush wrapper for the building. The resulting building is simultaneously evocative of flowering plants or natural fur and the infrastructural poche of the building turned inside-out.

In collaboration with L.E.F.T. Architects
